This was beautifully written about a personal journey through a transplant, by a father and son. It is touching and heartfelt. It is down to earth and not full of medical jargon you can’t understand. I highly recommend this to be added to your reading list! - CH

As a parent of a daughter facing a Pancreas/Kidney transplant, Mr. Simenson's book lends insight and light into a closed system. Only those who walk such paths on the inside know those tiny details that matter is making the experience more understandable. Thank you Team Simenson for your journey and a path with a few lights we can walk upon. - JK

This book taught me a lot about kidney disease, the transplant process, and the kind of obstacles that can be experienced along the way. The personal story helped with being able to understand the difficult decisions and setbacks that a family dealing with this illness experiences. It is an excellent book for anyone who might be going through something similar, and therefore looking to gain more information from someone who has been there. I would also recommend it to anyone who may just be looking for some inspiration. - DK

To read of the journey Bob and his son took was very inspiring and full of hope. I would recommend this to anyone facing a transplant to understand the journey and the process involved. It was very insightful and informative. The book was also a testament to determination, courage, and a family’s love for each other that was truly a story of devotion, love, and sacrifice. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is facing challenges in life, which is everyone. - JS

During our kidney transplant journey so many interesting, sad, happy, challenging, triumphant, heart-wrenching, and uplifting events happened that I had to put them to paper. This evolved into my first book - My Son’s Gift: Our Journey Through Kidney Transplant Surgery.

I hope to build a community with My Son’s Gift, including this website and my various associated social media presence, for all those facing kidney transplant or other medical and personal challenges. No doubt transplant people, I’m proud to be one of you!

I am also a long-time martial artist, currently a 6th degree black belt at USA Karate, which played a big role in helping me face the challenges of this journey. For that I am grateful. I hope to share more of this going forward.

Much of this site is in the orange color of the National Kidney Foundation, in honor of its education, prevention, and support initiatives for those with kidney disease.
